Hi! I just registered to these forums because I purchased Norton Ghost 14 a few days ago.
It's a wonderful product, love it! I have done some restores already because one software I was trying to use caused problems to my Vista Ultimate x64.
Now I have got the system back, the restore has been successful and pretty quick, but now Norton Ghost doesn't start.
It seems like it is working behind the scenes, because I first saw the icon in the notification area saying "n%" and now it says "Backed up". But if I try to start the GUI, all what I see is a number of errors related to Microsoft .NET framework.
The whole text outputed in the error Window is as follows:
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Apart from the mechanics of the Forum what is really outstanding, and top Kudos to Symantec for doing it, is the number of expert Norton Staffers who come in here and share from their in-depth knowledge of the innards of the programs because they wrote them!
That and their willingness to say out in the open that something is wrong, or is not meant to work like that, and get it fixed.
This was outstanding when N360 went from V1 to V2 as Microsoft issued a Service Pack and funny things started to happen that turned out to come from a third party application that I was using. Norton spoke with them in France and gave us a workaround while the third party program was being fixed.
I use XP(SP3) and Ghost 12 and have the exact same problem as described in this thread. However, I could not find the file to delete as described above (i.e. C:\Users\Vito\AppData\Local\Symantec_Corporation\VProConsole.exe_Url_jso5c1hhxsxpg1j3keflwc5hvmejybwq\8.0.1.0\user.config). Can someone please tell me how I find the file to be deleted in XP? Big thanks…I’ve been “practically” (…I’m bald) pulling my hair out on this the last two days. BIG thanks in advance. Bob
Just after sending my question with XP and Ghost 12…I figured out the answer. I first had to go to Explorer and modify my Folder Options (under Tools) to show Hidden Files and Folders (under the View tab). Then, I followed the path in the Ghost details and deleted the user.config file (a previously hidden/non-searchable file). Now…everthing works. Wahoo. Thanks for all for your help. Regards, Bob
