Norton Ghost 15.1 Stuck on 94 Percent - have tried other post solutions - No Joy

Trying to backup my D drive, which I have done many times before, and now never completes. Checked other posts here, ran CHKDSK, reinstalled ghost, cleared various directories documented in other posts - still NO JOY.

What to try now?

Hi,
What is the size of your "D:\" drive and the size of the destination drive?

Thanks

D: is 147GB used of 1.36 TB

N: (backup destination)  is 1.99 TB free space 1.67 TB

so space should not be an issue

Norton Support - little help please.  I've been a long time user since Drive Image days.  Otherwise, I need to find a new product.

Where is it locking, and what errors do you see on the screen? Maybe a screen shot?

Says Creating Recovery Point Local Disk (d:) to N:\DADDY_B…PC-DaddyPC_D_Drive001.v2i 4 Seconds Remaining Creating Recovery point

Try this:

Step 1. Stop Ghost service from windows services console.
Step 2. Rename the RPAM_Store.dat from where you are saving the image file to. (RPAM_Store.old)
Step 3. Rename the RPAM_Cache.dat on the source server. (RPAM_Cache.old)
Note: The RPAM_Cache.dat is located in "C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Norton Ghost\History" This file, and the file in step 2 may be hidden system files which may need to be made unhidden.
Step 4. Start the Ghost service.
Step 5. Run the backup job.

I did as you suggested.  It still stops at 94% complete and says 3 seconds remaining.  I have three separate jobs to backup my C D E drives.  C and E work only the D has the problem.  This has just started to occur.  Not sure what has changed that may be the problem.

Send me the log: C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Norton Ghost\Logs\Norton Ghost.log.txt.

Also run C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Ghost\Utility\PartInfo.exe. It will create a file called partinfo.exe in the same folder.

These 2 logs will help me see what is going on.

Do I just post them here?  I'm running the backups again right now after removing some programs no longer in use.  May be this afternoon before I get you the doc.

You can do that, or send them to me in a private message. Either way.

Here's the doc

BTW I do have " ignore bad sectors during copy" checked for my backups

Why on Earth would you do that?

I am seeing this in the logs for the D: drive - I assume you already saw this as per your last post. :smileyhappy: If 'ignore bad sectors' still does not back up D:\, manually copy any data not currently backed up to your backup location and run some mftr utilities against the d:\ drive to see what is going on. If Ghost is correct, failure is imminent.

Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: Drive Backup of Local Disk (D:\).
Warning AC8F1FCC: The type of errors encountered indicate that this hard disk drive is about to fail. It is recommended that this drive be replaced soon. To ignore this error and backup this drive, select "Ignore bad sectors during copy" from the advanced options in the Drive Backup Wizard.

Swaped out drives and I can now backup.  Its a WD drive and none of their utilties says it bad but who knows.
