Norton Ghost 15 requires creating a drive alias for any external drive alias'. I guess the reason is that if somehow if the drive letter changed, a configured backup job would still run because it would recognize the drive "alias."
The drive alias creates a problem for me as I use 2 identical external drives for backup, which I swap every day & take the other offsite. Ghost creates a different "alias" for each drive, so the backup job fails efery other day because it "sees a different external drive than what the daily backup job was configured with.
I believe previous versions of Ghost didn't have the "alias" feature (or at least I didn't have the drive swapping problem in previous versions), so you could just assign a drive letter (i.e. F) and regardless of what make/model/size external drive was connected, as long as it had that drive letter, the job would complete successfully.
Is there any way to disable the alias feature? Or any worksround for the alias feature?
I just want the backup jobs to "see" a drive letter. <script type="text/javascript" src="http://images.experts-exchange.com/00225/scripts/attachments_91215bb71fe6ac3f8039d78caee71371.js"></script>
