I just purchased Ghost 15 and want to use it to solve my problem. I have an old eMachine (eMonster 1000). I want use the programs and data from it's hard drive on a refurbished HP DC5700 I got from Geeks. I tried putting the hard drive from the eMachine into the HP, but it won't boot. Evidently eMachines are a different breed in that some or all of the MBR and or registry is stored in the emachine and not the hard drive.
The HP hard drive has Win XP Home and I have downloaded SP3 and all updates.
1. Can I Ghost over, to the HP, DOS and Windows programs without the operating system?
2. Do I load Ghost on both machines?
3. Do I need to start with a naked hard drive?
4. Will Ghost move over the complete Operating System from an eMachine, even what's not on the hard drive?
