Norton Ghost error ebab0013

Hi all. I'm having some issues trying to create a backup of my computer using Norton Ghost 15.0, as I keep running into an error ebab0013

What happens is, the backup will get to around 94%, and then it will hang there for a while. After a while, it will pop up with an error message, saying:

A test that safeguards the integrity of the program failed unexpectedly. CHECK failed, WindowsComputer::BackupComplete: .\WindowsSnapshot.cpp(1301): setPtr

The Show More Details tab reveals:

-Error EBAB0013: A test that safeguards the integrity of the program failed unexpectedly. CHECK failed, WindowsComputer::BackupComplete: .\WindowsSnapshot.cpp(1301): setPtr.

(UMI:V-0-2987-19)

The "More help on the web" link just brings to a page to make sure my Norton products are up to date, and, when running that and having it check, it says everything is up to date.

After hitting OK in the error box, Ghost displays the error:

Error ebab0013 running job: Drive Backup of SSD-OS (C:\), Data (E:\)... Reserved (P:\)

I tried poking around looking for solutions to this and ran into a couple issues that other people were having. First, someone had said updating the firmware on their external hard drive solved the issue. So, I updated the firmware on my WD 3.0TB USB 3.0/2.0 eternal HD, and, even with that updated, things still ran into the same problem. Someone else had said they had run into a problem because they had another software backup program running, but I checked and don't see anything else running/installed like that.

I've run a Ghost backup at least once or twice a bit back on this computer successfully. However, since then, I've tried running backups a number of times, and keep running into this same error.

Any help is, of course, very much appreciated.

Hi,terrisus,

If the backup got to 94% I think the copy was successful, so if you open the recovery point browser and select the .v2i file and run "Verify" and let it finish you should get the OK message and that file will be ok.

You might want to open a command prompt and run the command CHKDSK /R [DRIVE LETTER]. Alternately, boot the Ghost SRD and run the disk check from there.

I think you may be getting the error because Ghost doesn't support GDP partitions.

You wouldn't be able to access that drive from the recovery disk anyway.  Thats not going to happen until Microsoft comes out with a WindowsPE disk that supports it.

Sorry,

Dave
