Norton Ghost Error ED8000012

I'm trying to restore a ghost file, but running into an issue and receiving "Error ED8000012: The Internal structure of the image file (Last File Frame) is invalid, damaged or unsupported".  The back-up v2i file was copied from a tape back-up without issue, and I now have it on an external HDD.  I believe the file is in good shape as other large items from the same tape work fine, and I feel I might be doing something incorrect.

I just want to restore it locally to my PC, or even better just copy out a few files from inside the image.

The 40GB .v2i file was created with Symantec LiveState in 2009 from a server which is no longer is use (actually we no longer have it).  My research suggests that Norton Ghost (v15) should be able to handle the .v2i file restore and in fact Ghost does recognize the file just fine.  When attempting to mount the image, or restore it I received the Error ED8000012.

In addition I have the .sv2i system restore file - not sure how to use it, or if it's required.
