Norton Ghost Installation Woes

I have been struggling with almost the same problem as iceman47's post " Can't re-install Ghost 15 on Win7x64" posted on 10-16-2010.

I had been using Ghost 15 on my Win 7 64 bit computer without incident since early in 2010.  On or about Dec 12, 2010, when the machine booted, a dialog showed up that said to wait while Windows configures Ghost (accompanied  by a dialog asking for User permission for the installation package to run).  If I clicked No and Cancel, the dialog closed and then just came back again.  If I said yes and let it proceed, a green progress bar was shown that got about half done, then the dialog closed and the whole thing started over again.  This would go on for four or five iterations and then stop.  Ghost would start up but would not perform any functions.  All other programs worked fine, but this occurred each time the computer was booted.

Here is an abbreviated chronology.  I could not uninstall Ghost.  A 1402 message like iceman47's post of 10-17-2010 came up.  I used Norton Removal Tool, which also removed my Norton 360.  I was able to reinstall 360 with no problem.  When I tried to install Ghost I got exactly the 1402 error that iceman47 showed in his 10-17-2010 post.  I was able to go into the registry and find that key and, using administrator rights, change the permissions.  When installing again, I got the same error but for another key.  Finally I worked through all of them.  I did a reinstall and basically got back to where I started! The pesky dialog boxes came up repeatedly and Ghost did not run (no programs were installed).  But it did install something, because Ghost showed up on the add/remove list in Control panel.  However, uninstall would not run because there were no programs installed!  I used Revo Uninstaller, Norton 360 registry cleaner, and Glary Utilities to clean out as many Ghost keys as they found from the registry (it was a ton).   Then I reinstalled and got the exact error iceman47 reported in his first post on 10-16-2010.  I searched the registry for the version number, found it, and deleted the key that showed that Ghost was installed.  I reinstalled.  The installer reported success, but along the way it reported that "no mapping of accounts to security IDs was done" and "SymSnapServices is stopping".  What I have now is that the pesky dialog boxes for windows to configure Ghost keep popping up as at the beginning of this process, but when I click through them all, Ghost seems to be working.  To be explicit, the dialogs pop up on boot and again when I open Ghost and again almost every time I click a button within Ghost.  Each time they start popping up, I click Cancel and they pop up again for for or five iterations; then they stop, and Ghost does what it is supposed to.  I was able to define and create a recovery point.  Needless to say, this is not an acceptable way to operate.  I have no idea why this started in the first place or why it is continuing.  As before, everything else seems to be working fine, and I have installed and uninstalled other programs since this all began.

Any help will be appreciated.
