Is anyone else having a problem after installing Norton Ghost where your DVD drives disappear? Blame Norton Ghost. Why? Because it installs GearASPI and Upperfilters registry keys in the registry on Windows XP, Vista and 7 that make your CD and DVD drives stop working.
Not only that, but this is a KNOWN ISSUE dating back to Norton Ghost 12, and they still haven't fixed it.
On another note, I am also having a problem with a Norton Ghost 14 large update not installing, even after I have done everything that the LiveUpdate thing says I should do to fix it..... including wiping my Norton programs with the Norton Removal Tool and totally reinstalling NIS 2009 and Norton Ghost 14.
But wait..... that isn't the only problem.... I've tried to send e-mails to Symantec about the issues above.... but the stupid tool on the site under "Contact Us" will not take my Norton IS 2009 Key as a legitimate key.... nor will it take my Norton Ghost key as legitimate.... so I cannot e-mail Norton. This needs fixed! I don't know who designed their site, but this is something that should not have gotten past simple QC'ing.
I mean, I love Norton products..... but it's things like this that would severely anger someone else (and it's getting to that point for me, in all honesty) and make them switch to other programs.
