Norton Ghost / Symantec SSR user-manuals suggestion

Suggestion for user manuals:

I've used Ghost for many years (and other products).  I'm glad to see a future of Ghost prevaling and up to date again.

I am in the test period of SSR 2013 Desktop now.  The product is working as far as I can tell.  However ... the manual sucks!

It's the same old "text-only" that Norton has been using for years.  Where is a simple screen-print or illustration that helps guide the user through the various options and choices?  Originally I thought that Symantec was trying to save paper, but now we just have the PDF file so that can't be the case.

I'd like to offer Symantec a illustration of what should be done.  Take a look at the post by redk9258 below with great screen prints and a few arrows or highlights illustrating the documentation.

If Norton Ghost is (was) the home-user product and Symantec SSR 2013 is the "top of the line" business product, then you can do better! Take a lesson from redk9258 and hire some tech writers and use the alt-screen-print button.  Please.

New customers really can't get a full grasp of the power of your software with just a tex-only manual.

This is a good suggestion, it is always better to have a illustrated manual you do make hopefully few mistakes and quick to make use of things.

Along with other Symantec products, I have used Norton Ghost 12 through 15 and the Ghost series work very well for me, but then, Symantec came up with the bright idea of discontinuing support for Ghost........

I decided to so-call upgrade to their supported System Recovery 2013 Desk Top Edition months ago in order to continue protecting my computer content, I have not been able to boot from anything (custom SSRD) from day one.

I have been unable to find any PROPER documentation (such as a detailed User Guide) anywhere, contact Symantec you might think, hmmmm, in my experience with them, I'd have a better chance getting a direct/complete answer from a Bumble Bee.

Am I upset....... YES, over the years I have spent quite a bit of money on Symantec products and a lot of time getting some of them to work properly, due to the lack of a detailed User Guide and/or the lack of easily accessible product support.

I am tired of spending hours of my precious free time trying to figure out how to use a product because the manufacturer failed to include a detailed User Guide and easily obtainable customer support.

This is something that Symantec needs to put at the top of their priority list of things to remedy.

I made a similar suggestion in 2011 here

Until someone in a position to make these changes realizes that Symantec is

1. Losing sales.

2. Wasting resources on their Support staff answering basic questions (and probably overworking them).

3. Wasting the end users time.

I don't think anything will change.

Your points are well taken and have been experssed to Symantec in person. Several suggestions have been made on ways to improve things but, to date, I'm not aware of any decisions.
I, and others, will continue to keep pressing the points in hopes that we can get some improvements moning.

Stay well and surf safe
