How is a credit monitoring service going to keep tabs on your credit cards and bank accounts without personal information and access to those accounts?
How is a credit monitoring service going to keep tabs on your credit cards and bank accounts without personal information and access to those accounts?
I was about to sign up for Norton Identity protection when I began reading the terms and conditions. I found, within item 10, the following - "Further, in connection with your enrollment and use of the Service, you will be submitting your personal information to us and our third party service providers, or allowing us or our third party service providers and their data providers to access your personal information, including account passwords, user names, financial account information and other personal information, as well as other data, materials and content ..."
WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD I BE ASKED TO PROVIDE ACCOUNT USER NAME AND PASSWORDS FOR ANY ACCOUNTS LIKE MY CREDIT CARD OR CHECKING?

1) What's the difference between Norton Identity Protection and Norton Identity Protection Elite..?
2) Is Norton Identity Protection (not Elite) still free..?
https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-identify-protection
Some months back I read about Norton Identity Protection offered to users at time of Norton renewal. And I've seen Norton Identity Protection Elite advertised.
3) I'd like to know NIP vs NIP Elite particulars. Is there a matrix chart..?
As per Support, Norton Identity Protection is free.
agent > NIP is a free service, it is given to the customer who renew the Service.

Norton Identity Protection Elite offering is only available to users residing in the U.S. and its territories.

Well, agent three was fun, once we got passed agent thinking that NIP is Norton Identity Safe and agent thinking that NIP is similar to NortonDNS and agent offering two step verification as additional protection.
agent > There is not a much difference in V2.0 and V3.0 from the product point of view.
agent > V3.0 has the updated virus definitions as compared to V2.0
agent > When you have the product installed the product gets updated to the new version automatically through live updates.
agent > As V3.0 is latest you have V3.0
agent > NIP is a free service, it is given to the customer who renew the Service.
agent > You can enable the auto renewal of your product and at the time of its auto renewal you will get the NIP.
agent > I am sorry, but we have looked into all the possibilities and we cannot provide this service right now.
agent > I am really sorry for the inconvenience, I have checked it all with my supervisor and there is no such option to get the NIP in between the subscription period.
agent offered https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/norton-identity-protection/current/info?inid=hho_vanity_supp_ip as documentation that NIP is offered with auto-renewal at time of auto-renewal.
and I posted to agent three the case number for agent two Permalink
I would post this elsewhere. ![]()
agent one told me, all I need is active auto-renewal.
agent two told me 2.0 vs 3.0 and repeated request for remote access.
who knows what agent three will advise and where's documentation that I have v2.0 and documentation that NIP is only for v3.0
And did you let the agent 'update' your product to v3? Did that fix the issue?
Well, thought I'd try Chat again.
Initial Question/Comment: How do I get Norton Identity Protection
agent wants to take remote access of my computer and check the root cause of the issue and try to fix it for me.
Toto: I would like to inform you that Norton Identity Protection comes along with product Norton Security Premium version 3.0
bj m: Yes
Toto: As I have checked your Norton product you have current subscription of Norton Security with Backup version 2.0.
Toto: That is the reason you are unable to see the Norton Identity Protection .
Toto: If you want to get the Identity protection I can get the latest version for you and disable the current one so that on latest version you will get the free features to use Identity protection.
Seems, my Norton Security w Backup is v2.0 and I need Norton Security Premium v3.0
* I'm still waiting for my invite to NIP.
dryort: Are you ready to provide your SSN to some unknown(s), obviously residing in another part of the world? I cannot believe that Norton is making this a requirement to participate in this "free" service! There are too many other ways to verify my identity. I'm not buying into this.
> fee based Credit Monitoring Services require SSN too.
Until we're all chip'd and cataloged.....the ubiquitous identifier remains SSN. My SSN is recorded in more places than I'll ever know. And since the bad guys will be applying for credit with your SSN. And since Credit Reporting Bureaus will be using your SSN. Credit Monitoring Services might as well ask for your SSN.

Looks like they may be getting ready for a product announcement.
Found by accident here > https://www.symantec.com/privacy. I'm US. I just wanted to see whats what. And kinda bazaar that NIP is not advertised along with VPP as they're both free service + require auto-renewal.
I have 900+ days (not expecting auto-renew) so, thought I'd play with NIP in-case users ask about.
Sorry I do not remember what part of the world you are in. I would guess this is US only for now as it refers to giving Social Security Number.
how did you find this
Well, as usual I am left frustrated by Norton Support.
Yes, I received confirmation auto-renewal email ... but, no invite to NIP.
