Norton in Finland

Hi,

I am staying in Finland and recently had purchased a laptop in Finland and this had Norton pre-installed. Now my subscription has expired and I want to renew my subscription. But the subscription renewal does not have Finland in the selected list of countries. So is it OK if i download/renew by giving my country as US/UK. Will this subscription work in Finland?

can someone pls help..

cheers!

A US/UK product code activates a US/UK Norton program no matter where the computer is located. You can't activate a Finnish Norton with a US activation code, for example, though.

I live in Sweden, and I use a US code with a US version of NIS just fine.

I think you are wrong. I can activate with my Russian code US, Danish and Russian versions.

AFAIK, a code is a language independed

It is true that a purchased copy of Norton will include a Product Key that contains information about the language version of that particular copy of the software.  This does not prevent the key from being used to activate the product for other languages.  Any Product Key can be used universally within a product type. The only issue that might arise would be if the user attempts to later update the program using the Norton Update Center website.  The Update Center chooses an appropriate version to install based in part on the Product Key that it detects.  The Product Key will specify the language for which it was originally issued, which may not be the language of the version for which it is being used.  In that case, using a US key to activate a FInnish product would result in the Update Center installing an English version of the product.  The workaround would be to upgrade manually by downloading the Finnish version, rather than using the Update Center.
