Norton Insight 2012 - Application Ratings/Reputation Scan - incessant cycling of left vertical panel

Hi again:

When you open Norton Insight - Application Ratings (or Reputation Scan) there is a graphical left vertical panel towards the top.

The top part of the Application Ratings pane cycles vertically in this order:

Trust

Prevalence

Stability

Norton Network

Here's a picture.

This happens every time I open Application Ratings and/or the Reputaion Scan completes. The only way to temporarily stop it (Pause) is to click on the icon which freezes the pane in the selected view.

Could this Cycling be disabled? It's rather annoying.

Thanks,

Any ideas?

There seems to be an issue with how you are inserting images.  Have you looked at the forum tip.

@delphinium:

I deleted (what I thought) was "excess baggage" from my Gallery, not knowing that the Posts would have their images removed as well.

I now know better! Thank you for the alert. :smileyvery-happy:

Here is the image that should be included above. However, since it has been more than 1 hour, I can't re-insert it.

Hello AtomicBlaster,

Thanks for the feedback. Though the pic that you posted is not available at the moment, I believe I see what you are saying. the cycling of the left vertical pane is intentionally designed this way

We went with this design to  give our users a quick idea of what their  trust, prevalence, stability statistics looked like for the selected scan and as you righly noted when you click on one item, the rotation stops so that the user may take a deeper look at the specific statistics.
The data is typically available for about 5-7 seconds per category - i.e Trust, Prevalance, Stability, Norton Network and stops upon clicking

We do not have an option to disable this cycling in the product, at the moment.

Well..i meant Hello Atomic_Blast and not Blaster in my below post. sorry about the typo

Yes I can't agree more.., this is really annoying!!

One thing I have noticed also is that the information about certain files on my computer is completely wrong! Norton Insight says that some of my files/programs were only released about a week ago and yet they have been on my pc for a couple of years or more! Personally I think there are a lot of bugs in NIS 2012 yet to be put right. It certainly seems so from reading the various posts on the forums.

Hi ashwin_pr:

I had a sense that the cycling was to familiarize users with the different views.

Please create a switch in the Settings so it can be turned off! :smileysad:

Many thanks!

Atomic_Blast :)

Hi Atomic_Blast,

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll see what we can do about this one

Regards,

Ashwin

@ashwin_pr:

Another idea is to allow the user to set an interval in Settings, i.e.. Every 5 sec, 10, sec 30 sec, or OFF.

Good luck!

Atomic Blast :)
