Hi McStick, the total number files found for scanning is not affected by Insight, but the number files actually analyzed is.
If you run a manual scan, click on the ">>" to the left of the "total items scanned text", this will expand the section, and show the number of files that were skipped (caching) and number of files trusted (Insight).
Or, open the history view, select the scan results category, click on more details, then expand the "+" next to the "total items scanned text", and you will see the same information.

That is correct, and more importantly, even when the defs change, the files do not have to be re-scanned.
