Norton Insight Protection. The difference between 'bad' files and security risks

Good day everyone, a little over two weeks ago I registered with Norton and subscribed to their Norton Antivirus 2011 product.

So far everything has been going great! But I do have a few questions in regards to their Application Ratings and their Norton Insight Protection feature. The main question I have is that I would like to know the difference between files which this program has flagged as 'bad' and files which are security risks.

I asked this because, as a student of software development, I use several third party libraries with a few of the programs I write. None the less I found it strange when the only 'bad' file on my computer was a .dll of LUA 5.1. A library which I have been using quite safely and harm-freely for a few years now (at least to my best knowledge!  LUA is quite widely used in a variety of applications).

However, I can see though how this kind of library might be used in some malicious program for some shenanigans, so it is not entirely unreasonable that some viruses and malwares might feature it.

Is there a way to see any additional information on particular files aside from just a Trust Rating? Perhaps see reasons behind why programs are placed on a blacklist and the known troubles that can occur?
