My computer started to freeze "sometime" after NIS 2010 17.6.0.32 was installed. I narrowed down the problem to tell exactly when the freeze occurs, and it is when "Norton Insight" background task runs.
Several tasks can run whenever the idle timeout pops, LiveUpdate, PulseUpdates, Insight Optimizer etc. These seem to work fine, and the system freeze only occurs when Norton Insight is started.
Once the system freezes, only a hard power down can resolve the problem.
I had a tech support person help but he was only patient enough to wait about 5 mins after the Idle timer popped. Sure enough, after he left, I reproduced the problem & can do so at will but only at indeterminate time after the idle timer pops.
Any ideas?
Win XP 2002 SP3
Idle scans switched off (I think doesn't matter)
Insight protection switched off (but I think doesn't matter)
Thanks, Ken ... (a few hours from uninstalling NIS permantently because I can't afford to have my system freeze whenever I'm not moving the mouse or typing)
