Norton interferes with another program saving its files

one of my programs that is not widely used (InfoSelect for Windows by MicLog.com) was just updated by the publisher. now it is not able to save files when exiting because Norton Data Protector blocked a suspicious action by the program. I have tried to go into norton antivirus settings and exclude that program from the data protector, to no avail. how can I allow the program to fully function when Norton is treating it as suspicious? I use InfoSelect to keep all of my client and personal notes, so it is critical that all files be saved when exiting the program.

Norton ver. 22.21.8.62

Windows 10 Pro

Configure Data Protector to block malicious processes affecting your PC

Turning off this feature reduces your PC protection. So, we recommend you to keep this feature turned on always. However, if you wish to turn it off, do that temporarily and ensure that it is turned on again.

  • Turn off or turn on Data Protector
  • Add or edit a folder for Data Protector protection
  • Add an extension for Data Protector protection
  • Remove a folder or an extension from Data Protector
  • Add or remove a process from Data Protector exclusion

couldn't find such a link

From your screenshot, click View Details, then look for an Exclude link.

I thought those steps would have taken care of it, but I'm still getting the same error message, can't save files etc. I will try shutting down\restarting again to see if that helps, but I'm afraid that Norton is just being too interfering. I may have to turn it off each time I want to close InfoSelect, and I will contact InfoSelect about its latest update, since obviously there's something in it that is setting off Norton that wasn't there before.

I was aware of the info shown in the screen shot, and didn't feel that it was compromising, but thanks for taking it down anyway.
