Norton interfering with Compiling .exe files

Hello, new to this so sorry if im in the wrong place. This is a bit c++ related, but mostly norton.

Every time i compile a new .exe, the file gets detected as a virus from nobody else ever using it, then gets removed. I have to remove the .exe from the list of files for sonar to delete and everything works good, but once c++ recompiles the .exe, it once again shows up as a threat/virus. Also if this matters, this began happening just today.

Not too big of a deal, I can turn sonar off temporarily if thats safe to work around it, but thanks to anyone who can help out.

Hi,

you should try this method first:

1. Open your Norton product

2. Open Quarantine

3. Find the compiled file on the list

4. Select it, then click on more details

5. On the new window click on Options in the bottom

6. Click on Restore

7. Select the option (checkbox) for excluding the file from later detections.

Let us know the reuslts.

This is unbelievable that Norton STILL has not fixed the visual studios problem!  C++, visual basic, C# all get quarantined when I run a newly created executable.  I am a software developer for L-3 Communications and were playing with the idea of using Norton antivirus.  So we installed on one laptop and installed visual studios 2010.  No problems until we tried to write a simple hello world program.  When we ran the program, SONAR blocked and quarantined our executable! I am in a business were we have configuration management for every singe executable that we create. We can't risk using Norton with all its SONAR problems tank our division.  We searched the internet and you've had problems for years with SONAR and still you don't have a fix.  We are only 1 division out of over 100 but I assure you word will spread amongst the IT, as it is already on its way to corporate IT not to use Norton in any software related divisions.  I don't want any responses from any one at Norton, but a prompt fix would be nice. Disable SONAR until it works correctly.

If the above methode I wrote can not work for you, you can add a scan exclusion (both Auto-Protect Exclusions and Scan Exclusions), this way your develpment folders will not be scaned by SONAR and other AV parts.

Perhaps the corporate version (Symantec Endpoint Protection) would be a better choice instead of trying to use consumer oriented products (in this environment).
