They can be in conflict indeed. I would suggest two things:
- Upgrade to v2009 ; it's free Upgrade to v2009
- Set Webroot to on demand and no real time scanning

Who ever told you that is way off there rocker. You cannot run 2 real time anti spywares. There are other threads about Spy Sweeper and Norton not getting along. No reason to spend money on 2 products. Uninstalled Spy Sweeper. Upgrade your NIS 2008 to NIS 2008 and download Malware Bytes Anti Malware which is a free on demand scanner. Run it once a month or so.
