So I was trying to run a scan on Norton Security 2009, the first thing I noticed was that the CPU usage of Norton was 0%-1%, which I thought was odd, then I found out that I couldn't run any scans (quick scan, full system scan or custom scan) Does anyone know what's wrong?
Hi direstraits
Although it is recommended to upgrade to the 2010 version, that should not be done until we ascertain what the problem is with your computer. Malware could be causing the scans not to be able to run. Can you bring up task manager, regedit, command prompt, run? I would suggest that you run a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes. Please post the log after you run the scan. Thanks
Download the free version, install and update then run a FULL scan. After the scan completes you should post the logs back to this thread.
You can find Malwarebytes here
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
It is a safer location to get the program from than malwarebytes themselves because some malware creators have large lists of sites that they block. Please be careful to down load the correct program ----the FREE version of MALWAREBYTES
(Thanks to Delph for providing the alternative site)
