Norton Internet Security 2010 - Network Security map with unknown generic devices

Hi

I've read thru several posts in this forum with regards to Network security map showing unknown generic device(s).  I have an XP sp3 desktop and XP media version laptop connected to my wrt54gs router.  Router is connected to my DSL modem.

When I run network map on my desktop, I would see sometimes 1, other times 2 unknown generic devices.  They appear intermittenly.  Deleting them and purging the network map did not seem to resolve it.    When I look at my laptop's network map, the devices do not appear.

I have mac address filtering in my router set with the PC and Laptop's MAC.  The unknown devices had IP 66.0.0.255 and 0.0.0.255.  I set them to restricted as of the moment.

my questions are:

1. how can I confirm these are valid devices?

2. how do I remove them for good, if these are old or non valid connections?

here is a snapshot of the network map screen
