Norton Internet security 2011 Disc wont install

Hi

I've just brought the Norton Internet security 2011, I put the CD into my computer and it wont install...

The boxes come up with

  • Install Norton internet security
  • Browse contents
  • Norton premium services etc

I click onto install, Then Another box comes up with a yellow arrow going in circles and then The whole Box disappears?

I've got adobe reader installed and windows 7

WHY WONT IT INSTALL PLEASE HELP????

Thank you

Hello!

Instead of installing from the CD, try downloading the latest version here:

http://www.norton.com/nis11

and install it directly.

Bonus is that that is the latest version, while the CD often comes with an older version, so you won't have to update it so much after installation.

It's the same in every other regard, and you activate it the usual way with the key that came with your CD.

But ive Just spent 99.95 buyint it from the shop???  can i still install in with the same product key????

Oh yes, no problem. Guaranteed.

You have paid for the license, not for the physical disc, and you can use that license to activate any Norton Internet Security installation.

Yay I will try and install your link now

That's made me very Happy :) Thank you for replying

I hate computers LOL...

I Installed the link , and the same thing happens The boxs comes up Half installs then disappears ???

Try to scan your PC with clean media like Norton bootable recovery tool I think it could be malware problem.

http://security.norton.com/nbrt/nbrt.asp?lcid=1033.

That's a bit weird.

Try right-clicking on the installer and select "Run as administrator".

What security program(s) was on your computer before you tried to install the NIS from the disc?

How did you remove it? Using Windows' Remove Programs or .... ?

This can affect installation of a subsequent security product ....

Hi Hugh

This is the first program like this I've tried to install on my laptop, as its only new.

Im going to try the Norton recovery reboot now.. Will be back on shortly to let you know how I go :)

Usually these days PCs come with a trial version of some security program -- Norton and McAfee are common -- and you would need to clean these first. If it's other than Norton then you need it's own tool which someone here can give you a link to.

Hi its still not installing for me :(

Is there someone from this site that could maybe do a remote linkup with me to try and help me install it otherwise IM going to have to get a re-fund :( because I just can't seem to work it out

Thanks Tegan :)

What is not installing? The Norton Removal Tool, the Norton Bootable Recovery Disk ...... What are you talking about please.

If you are putting a bootable CD into the PC optical drive and restarting the computer, have you preset it to boot from the optical drive? Or hit the correct KEY for your computer to make it boot from the optical drive on that occasion? If you have not then the computer will try to boot from the hard drive in the normal way .....

You have not answered my question about what security program was installed when you bought the computer .....

If you tell us we can help more.

Otherwise you can contact OnLine CHAT who hzve remote facilities I believe but personally I prefer to solve problems under my own control when possible.

Hi Tegan,

As huwyngr suggests, you should contact Customer Support through Chat.  They can determine where the installation is failing and can access your PC remotely to fix whatever problem is causing the issue.
