I've installed norton internet security 2012 on my windows 7 pc (64 bit) after uninstalling norton internet security 2011 and it seemed to install ok but once i restarted my pc i got the BSOD. Logged on in safe mode with networking and removed norton and voila my pc was alive again. I tried using the NRT as well and reinstalling but the same thing keeps happening. I seen some people disabled their network adapters (realtek) and i tried this also but still the same thing keeps happening.
I'm all out of ideas and thinking if the internet is overated and whether i really need it ....... has anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks for the feedback i'm not sure if i have service pack 1 installed so i'll try this when i get home and let you know how i get on. Thanks for the suggestion

Hi TheIrishMan:
A clean re-install of NIS using the instructions posted here sometimes solves these BSODs. The Norton Removal Tool (NRT) will leave behind some "inert" . dat and .txt files on the hard drive (see RichD's comments here) so if I'd suggest that you boot up again in Safe Mode with Networking and follow those clean re-install instructions but add the following:
Make sure you answer "No" if the uninstall wizard or the NRT asks you if you're planning to re-install NIS. If you answer "No" this will clean off additional static files holding your old configuration settings.
After step 7 (i.e., after performing 2 or 3 wipes with the NRT with a re-boot between each wipe), manually delete the C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security folder and re-boot before re-installing NIS.
If you have another BSOD after the clean re-install of NIS then you can use Nirsoft's free BlueScreenView to interpret the Bug Check (BC) codes in your BSOD minidump files and then post the results as follows:
Do you have any other anti-virus or security programs installed? Sometimes they can conflict with NIS.
Hi The IrishMan:
Further to nikki605's comment, even residual registry entries and/or files from uninstalled security software from other manufacturers (e.g., McAfee, AVG, etc.) can cause this type of problem - please read the post here in baldeagleuk's thread Upgraded to NIS 2012 - Lost Access to Internet and let us know if this might be an issue before attempting a clean re-install.
Right now my best guess is that one of the services from your previous NIS 2011 installation was not stopped and uninstalled correctly during the upgrade to NIS 2012, but the clean re-install as described in message # 4 should take care of this.
