My expensive i7- 16 gb high spec laptop was running very well that is until I bought a camera and the retailer suggested that I download SDformatter off the web because he said Windows does not do a good job; I disagree; anyway, I downloaded SDformatter; off the SD association website; OK'd by Norton checker and then the run began; Blue screen of Death, numerous APPCRASHES, numerout ERROR warnings; Norton antivirus updates gone; the lot of them; 198Mb of them disappeared.
So I deleted Norton and started again; more ERROR messages, more crashes and another full blue screen; I had already suspected SDformatter and deleted it; but by using System Restore; it was still there in Control Program add/remove; so I deleted it again and again Norton updates completely gone.

I have two more pcs and both have Norton Internet security 2012 all up todate; I do think Norton slows down XP and Windows 7; unlike a trusted Norton plain antivirus with Windows FIrewall ON; worked well for years and no noticeable slowdown of the PCs.
Also, apart from Norton Errors warnings, the ability to click on folders or items on the desktop has gone, nothing happens unless the PC is rebooted.
I have deep searched with Norton NPE and Autodetect; no bugs, Norton scanned before this crash; no bugs.
Even with SDformatter deleted; Errors all the time and the above problems.
My Laptop is a new machine worked perfectly well; has little loaded on the hard drive deliberately; updated with Windows as necessary; updated with Norton regularly. should be a clean machine;
Apart from a full Nuke; a Hard Drive Formatt and reloading all again. I am frankly puzzled.
QUESTION: 'anyone got any constructive ideas please.
