Norton Internet Security 2012 stops working!

Hello dear friends!

I have installed NIS 2012 on my Vista-computer but something is wrong (Swedish-edition). Almost everytime i click on the "Settings"-button the program hangs for several minutes before it starting. Sometime it works pronto, but sometims i also must start my computer again. What is wrong? I have alredy used the removal tool and re-installed NIS 2012. But there is the same problem. And it is just the "Settings"-button everything else works fine. Does anyone now whats wrong?

If you view your Norton product's security history and "Show" the "Norton Error Reporting" list, is there anything listed? Is so, please right-click on one of the items and copy it to your clipboard and then paste it back in a response to this post.

"Norton Error Reporting" has 3 things listed that the program did a autofix and 2 error reports.

I think he's looking for the Norton logs, not the event viewer logs.

Can you check if you have any other antivirus products installed in your computer along with Norton ?

 

If yes , please remove the same and check if its working

I have no other antivirus - has always had Norton.

How do i get the Norton log.

Open up the graphic user interface, click Advances, then History. Click on the "Recent history" to the right of "Show", and select Norton error reporting instead. This should show any and all error reports and you can paste them here.

Thanks for providing the error information. In the future, you can simply paste the text into your message saving me the effort of opening the file with a Unicode editor :)

 

I searched our database and couldn't find any record of either of these errors. Sometimes it can take a day or two for these errors to get uploaded to our database. Is the status of these items something like 'Submitted' (sorry, I don't know the Swedish word that would show up on your system.)

What youu call gibberish is the way that the Norton History gets copied when you click on Copy -- it loses all it's formatting

Just a suggestion.

I just clicked on the link in the message and it opened up in IE 8 .... But it always loses its formating whatever I copy it into and I've tried a wide range ....

ive had the same problem takes long time for settings to start up and sometimes stops responding on windows 7

Can you run the norton removal tool and reinstall the product in safe mode to see if its working ? This has worked for me in some cases ..

Dear Matt!

The crash dump have alredy been submited. I have nothing in the folder "ReportQueue".

Many times the problem dosent create a error-report because i must restart the computer.

"Settings"-button hangs the computer completely.
