Norton Internet Security 2013 Antispam and Microsoft Outlook 2013 x86

When will Norton Internet Security 2013 Antispam support Microsoft Outlook 2013 x86?  When I try to select Outlook as my email client (Settings>Network>Message Protection>Client Integration>Email Clients) the checkbox to select Outlook is greyed out.  Thanks for the help!

Welcome,
I'm running Office2013 in a W8x64 environment with NISv20 and they seem to be playing well together. This is a test system so I'm not on it continuously.

Keep us posted

PS: reboots can do wonders :smileywink:

Hi Dick,

Thanks for the reply.   The issue that I'm noticing is that the Norton Ribbon does not appear when using mail.  I have verified that the "Norton AntiSpam Outlook Plugin" is one of the enabled COM Add-ins.  I have run the Norton Internet Security Support tool and have rebooted a few times.  Any other thoughts that I should persue?

The application versions are:

Norton Internet Security version 20.2.0.19

Microsoft Office Professional Plus x88 version 15.0.4420.1017

Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1

Thanks for the help,

Steve

Also, when I try to select Outlook as my email client (Settings>Network>Message Protection>Client Integration>Email Clients) the checkbox to select Outlook is greyed out.  Thanks for the help!

Update:  I just upgraded to NIS 20.2.1.22 and the Micrososft Outlook 2013 is still not supported (the selection checkbox is still greyed out).  When will Micrososft Outlook 2013 x86 be supported?

Update from Norton Chat Support:

Louis Camille: Welcome to Norton Support, Steve. As of this moment, Norton doesn't support Microsoft Outlook 2013.

Me: Uh, oh.  The product information on the website says that it supports Outlook 2003 or higher.  When will 2013 be supported as I've already upgraded?

Louis Camille: Hello, I am very sorry. Yes, we support Outlook 2003 higher. However, not the 2013 version yet. I don't have that information here on my end but we will send email notifications on your registered email address if there will be updates regarding Norton supporting Outlook 2013.

I guess it depends on how long it takes for Norton to fix this issue. In the meantime, I still have Outlook 2010 installed. Or I can use 2013 and look for spam manually.

Thanks

John

It isn't only for spam. I received an email with a suspicious attachment and had no way to scan it for viruses.

My email account in Outlook 2013 is an MSN.com Exchange ActiveSynch account. I don't know if this makes a difference, but Norton should develop a means to scan these accounts and messages. I know that the attachment exists on a server, rather than locally. Does this make a difference? Is there a workaround for this?

I'm surprised Symantec hasn't reacted to the release of Outlook 2013 by now. The product has been released to businesses since December and now released to the general public. It's like it caught them by surprise.....so tight lipped. Not like them, I suppose.

I was having trouble with Outlook, both 2010 and 2013 downloading emails. I was getting error messages. So I figured there may be a conflict between 2010 and 2013, so I removed 2010. That didn't fix the problem. So I now forward all my email to a gmail address and then read gmail within Outlook 2013, and that seems to work. However, although Outlook 2013 indicates that the Norton plugin is installed, it doesn't work. Maybe this is a Microsoft problem as Outlook might think it works when it doesn't. When Firefox upgrades and add-ins are not compatible, they tell you. In the case of Outlook 2013 it does not recognise that the Norton add-in is not working. I think Norton, considering that we are paying for security protection, should get on with making itself compatible with Outlook 2013. Cheers John

Come on Symantec... get with the program!
