Hello everyone, this is my first thread (ever!).
First, let me describe my situation. As a very content user of Norton Internet Security (NIS) for many years now, my enthusiasm for NIS has been slightly decreased since the latest update to NIS2015. What happened? NIS now not only takes care of my PC security, but also manages PC performance and maintains related issues. In general this is certainly a nice development, getting more for less, and I do not want to complain about it. But IMHO, an antivirus program, such as NIS, should solely focus on the system and user security and make sure to put all its power into that, instead of offering nice additional features for PC maintenance.
So what is my issue then? I was wondering (and researching unsuccessfully, hence this thread), how I can turn off the maintenance features of NIS2015. As an educated IT personell, I take joy in doing that myself. Not only that, but it bothers me that the maintenance features aren't transparent at all. What does it do when "optimizing" my PC? Does it take into account, that SSD drives should not be defragmented? I whish, I had a lot more specific control over this part of NIS. I'm unable to find according preferences under settings. I think, its getting clear, what my concerns are and I do understand, that many NIS users especially like these additional features.
Let me phrase a couple of specific questions out of this: how do I turn off all PC maintenance features in NIS? Am I blind or stupid enough, not being able to locate such settings? Is there a detailed documentation or user guide for NIS2015?
