Hi not sure about this but I just checked the program rules in the firewall settings and some of the programs say allow like internet security and internet explorer and others similar to that if I delete them then when they reappear they say the same. With my experience they always said auto and now some say allow can some one please provide some information on this and also is there a user manual for the newest version available for download like in the past. Thanks
The Smart Firewall is supposed to be just that. Smart. For non network administrators, it gives the proper protection by default, using the knowledge and experience of the Symanted Network experts.
For a given progam, Symantec determines what is the best setting. If you delete a rule and then run the program again, you are still going to get the same setting.
I too have a combination of Auto and Allow in my firewall settings.
Until the manuals are released for V21, any time you want help with a setting, look for a Help link or a "?" on the page you are using.

Hi LikeCars,
If you hover your mouse pointer over the icons in the Trust column, you should get a tooltip for each program telling you the level of trust that Norton assigns to each. Programs that are "Norton Trusted" are known to be safe and will get an "Allow" in the program rules. Programs that have not yet achieved the "Norton Trusted" rank, but which are nevertheless considered to be good programs, will be set to "Auto" which means they will be more closely monitored than the fully trusted applications.
