Norton Internet Security Accidentally Deleted my file.(How to recover it?)

I need help ASAP..

This file took me 2 hours to download then suddenly NIS deleted it due to medium risk.. But I swear it doesn't contain ANY virus.

I have attached the screenshots by the way.

Any useful help would be very much appreciated.

It's not in Quarantine... and there is no restore option..

I have the same problem. I am downloading a file that is 100% trusted by me and all the other users that use the software (from Random Control) and yet nortons always deletes the files. Its unbelievable that it does this and gives you no option to restore the file. I even added the download folder as an excluded path, and yet it still deletes the file. For heavens sake, this is ridiculous !!!!!!!!

I suspect the downloaded file is pretty large >500mb. Such large files are not quarantined , so there is no restore option.

As for exclusion of download path not resolving the issue, be sure to add the path to 'Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONAR and Download Intelligence Detection'. Here too I suspect the user might have added the path to 'Items to Exclude from Scans'.

Please reply if file gets removed even after setting the right exclusion path.

NIS2013 has deleted my whole computer.. now I don't have a PC anymore... Even my keyboard is gone...

Meh..

Ohhh nooooes! Norton is pretty clever if it did that. :smileylol:
Norton one day ejected my coffee cup tray then pulled it back in when I had a large coffee sitting in it... :smileyindifferent: I guess it wanted a caffeine fix? :smileylol: Bad Norton! j/k

You must be **bleep**ing joking!!!

I spent 8 hours download a file.. It is 100% secure and 100% legal.

And now you are telling me that i cant get it back??

It is the most stupid thing i have ever heard!!

Done using Norton "Winner of the price - most stupid company"

Hi Frederik,

There is a workaround. However, I am not sure whether this post will be approved by the admin/mods of this community as this is includes 3rd party sw.

You can download a file recovery program like Recuva (google the name, its a freeware and quite popular as well) and run it and run a Deep Scan to locate the file. You can restore the file to any desired location. Please disable Norton Auto Protect while you do this. (Please make sure that the file is completely safe as Norton wouldnt check the file if you disable AutoProtect. You can disable Auto Protect by right clicking on the Norton Tray Icon and selecting the relevant option)

This will work in most cases and your file will be restored. Please add the file's path to exclusions once you did this.

Hope I helped,
