Norton Internet Security activates several times a day

Norton Internet Security activates several times a day and slows down the system.
System usage 20-50% Processor goes from 2.4 GHz to 4 GHz.
Fan runs at full speed and is very noisy.
I have “NORTON Internet Security” Version 25.4.10068.1594
but the process is “Norton 360”

Lenovo Ideapad L340
Intel(R) Core™ i5-9300HF CPU @ 2.40GHz / RAM 16 GB / 8 cores / 16 logical processors

Currently, full scan is set to monthly, priority low, everything else is manual with priority low.
How can I prevent this activity from occurring several times a day?

Windows? 10/11?
Does Norton LiveUpdate & QuickScan run okay?
Does machine Restart (not Shut down) help?
and is this “activates” behavior just since 25.4?
What DIY have you tried to remedy “activates several times a day”?
Have you tried Repair Norton?
You’ve confirmed Norton 360 settings are your preference?
You’ve disable Norton 360 performance features? as test.

I’m wondering whether Optimize Disk here is trying to run/complete.
I’m wondering how long it’s been since you’ve clean installed Norton Internet Security / Norton 360.
I’m wondering why your Norton device security remains branded Norton Internet Security.
Maybe, I’m not understanding your Norton Internet Security reference.

Do you want to try Repair Norton &or Reset to Default?
Were my machine, I’d run Malwarebytes here…just to see.
Were my machine, I’d clean install Norton…as basic troubleshooting.

Note: Reset to Default resets Norton Cloud Backup

Maybe, record a performance issue

Maybe, run Remove & Reinstall to feel better about your Norton install.

Maybe, opt clean install Norton to feel better about your Norton install.
Remove only → scour File Explorer for remnants → pull fresh installer from your Norton account.

Thank you.

i was in troubleshooting and choosed “repair Norton” - it worked only several seconds.
now i wait what happens or not …

Okay…Thanks
Please let us know your progress.

Today I deinstallad and installed Norton new - but nothing changes.
It seems after check new virusdefinition (liveupdate) runs the following process:
Process “Norton 360” - NortonUI.exe works with (summary) 35% CPU ~10 minutes
All the time 1 processor works with 100%, others do nearly nothing.
That’s absolute nonsense.
I think this one processor gets to hot and so the fans work with 100%.
But: Virusdefinitions are actual - so its nothing to do after liveupdate.

If I call manuelly a scan - CPU works with (summary) 5-10 %, all processors are working and temperature ist normal.

Did you opt Remove only?

Maybe, opt clean install Norton to feel better about your Norton install.
Remove only → scour File Explorer for remnants → pull fresh installer from your Norton account.

Maybe… Contact Norton Support [here] &or [here]

Norton Community is primarily user-to-user “working” product help.
Norton Community does not have access to your Norton account ~ subscription ~ billing profile.

I choosed “only remove” - reboot - download installer from my acount - reinstall - reboot …

I think i go to Norton support …

Thank you.
