Just purchased a new laptop and installed Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). Installed all updates before installing anything else. Next, I installed NIS (NIS-ESD-21.3.0.12-EN.exe), Adobe Acrobat X, and Microsoft Office Professional 2007. All programs have been carefully updated to their latest versions. Before doing anything, Live Update was run to be sure I applied the most recent updates/patches.
GoDaddy hosts my domain and prompts me to use port 110 for incoming email (POP3) and port 80 for outgoing maile (SMTP).
With NIS active, I can send email from Outlook but cannot receive email. By "turning off" Antivirus and Antispam in the settings menu, I can receive email. Email/Outlook works fine when I uninstall NIS. As I told tech support multiple times, this is not an Outlook or domain problem - they work fine. It's the introduction of NIS that causes the problem.
I spent three (3) hours on the phone with tech support, tech support's supervisor, and Level 2 support. We tried a number of things (uninstalled, reinstalled, changed outgoing port numbers (to 25), checked firewall blocks, ...) but none worked. Level 2 tech support told me he's the last stop but I find it hard to believe. I also received instructions from a customer support operator to email [Removed] but I'm losing faith.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I still have an open case and will again be speaking with the Level 2 tech in the morning in about 9 hours (it's 11:45 in Los Angeles, California now).
Sorry if I come across short - just want to get this fixed.
