"Norton Internet Security has a license or subscription problem."

When I was using my computer this afternoon, Norton was working fine, but when I restarted my computer later, it gave me this alert. *points to quote at the top of the page* Then it tells me "You will need to activate your product." When I click "activate now" it brings up a window/box that says it's connecting to the server. The moving animated bar that indicates it's doing something runs for a while and then the window closes... but nothing's changed.

I still had 200+ days on the subscribtion. I don't have 2009, so that's not the issue.

Hi Basketball7,

Sorry to hear of your problem.

Not trying to evade your issue, but subscription and licensing problems are best handled by Online Support here.

Let us know how you do.

Well, I don't want to download anything more until I get it fixed, and I'd have to complete the submission thingy.

I wanted to know if it had anything to do with "Norton Internet Security Update (16.2) "

The 16.2 update is designed specifically for the 2009 product which you mentioned you are not using, so it should not affect you.

Oh. I see... And I'd just gotten my hopes up, too... :smileysad:

Well, maybe someone who reads this will know what's up.

You might weant to try to upgrade tough. Your license should be stalled on your machine and probably also on your online account. Could be that if you upgrade NIS 2009 will do a thourough search for your license again

Try these steps:

1. Change your system date back to 5 days.

2. Synchornize your Norton 2008 product with the Subscription Server. Read this Symantec Support Article for more information.

3. Change your system date to current one and run LiveUpdate.

If the problem persists, try re-activating your Norton 2008 program.

1. Start Norton program.

2. Click Help & Support.

3. Click Activation.

4. Click Next, enter the same product key and again click Next.

5. Click Finish.

What version do you have please?

Check out this document and the procedure it links you to:

Thanks. I'll look into it when I get home.
