I'm definately not a computer expert, so bear with me here (and correct me if what I think I understand is wrong).
I saw this message by the taskbar when I minimized a full screen video I was watching. When I opened the history, I had to scroll down a bit before I found what the problem possibly was (three alerts that I had never seen before).
Right before Light Silent Mode turned on (this is because I was watching full screen, right?) I had two instances of "Unauthorized Access Blocked" that were two seconds apart. The "Actor" was c:\windows\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe and it was targeting C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Engine\16.7.2.11\ccSvcHst.exe in an attempt to "Allocate Virtual Memory."
Two minutes before that I had "Unauthorized Access Logged," same actor, same target, in order to "Access Process Data."
I ran a full system scan, which found nothing.
Now from what I Googled, if wmiprvse.exe is not in the \wbem is a virus, but if it is in that directory it is probably a legitimate file. And that as a legitimate file it's job is to access process data and allocate virtual memory
So my question for you security experts is, do you think I have a problem or did Norton just flip out because WMI was targeting it?
