Norton Internet Security has stopped working

NIS version 22.5.4.24

Windows 7 Professional 64bit

Chrome browser

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

Application Name: NIS.exe

Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll

Several times a day I get this message that NIS has stopped working. I have to reboot to get it going again. Sometimes it crashes again immediately. Other times it will last for 2 sessions. I have tried Norton Remove and Reinstall tool. Also tried the Norton Removal tool and manually downloaded, installed and activated a new copy. This has been happening for at least 10 days now. I have searched the forum without finding any solution that worked for me. Any ideas?
