Norton Internet Security Interrupting server communication during online gaming

Immediately upon installing NIS 2010, an online game I participate in isn't functioning normally.  Apparently NIS denies the game servers access to certain files that the game updates on my hard drive.  NIS allows communication so the game is "playable" but does not allow some specific files to be updated by the game's servers.

I have allowed the game servers specific IP's complete access by creating a rule for them but that isn't working either.  I need to know what to disable in NIS to allow the communication/read-write of files from the servers.

PS-several thousand people play this game and according to the game's forums, anyone that bought NIS 2010 or MacAfee has stopped using both products due to this.  Help fast

PS - I also had the NIS button show up on my taskbar after logging in from screensaver but an online Norton specialist fixed that...unless my computer is on for 4 or 5 days at a time then it comes back...just an FYI.  Any possibility that when memory is consumed over a period of time that NIS perceives that to be an environment change and begins blocking and running items?

Aces High II and yes, its at the top...is there a difference between listing sites by NAMES and sites BY IP address in the rules area?   I had the IP addresses in the NAME OF SITES listing instead of the IP area.  Let me know.

Changeup

PS - I came out of Screensaver and the NIS button was on the taskbar again.  It will stay off for about 3 days but then I have to reboot to fix it.  It has to be a memory issue.  When memory drops, Norton must be treating it like an environment change.

Changeup,

Check the NIS Security History for entries around the time that you experience the problem. Those may give some insight into what needs to be done to solve your issue.

There already is a thread about the NIS icon showing in the tray.
