Norton Internet Security Not Scanning and Weird Error Message after Internet Explorer loads

Ok guys, new here, but i need help asap.

I have suddenly got this when loading my internet browsers:

globalroot/systemroot/system32/ESQULqrkfjapbvbbdcrcicpetfpxpmqxhquvk.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

now...once this has started appearing my Norton Internet Security cant do **bleep**. When I attempt a full or quick scan it wont scan any files, the bar moves but no files get scanned, and when I cancel it basically crashes.

If I right click say "My Computer" then scan with N.I.S THEN it says scan complete, but still no files scanned.

I need help guys. Usually when something like this happens a system restore is in order but this laptop appears to be different from the rest. IE. when its booting i cant hit the button to return to default, AND, there was no recovery disc with it. I don't know what to do. This is out of my league.

Thank You

Been googlin the heck out of anything for a bit and I've noticed talks about rootkits?? Don't know what the heck it is but it sounds nasty. How could I find these and remove them?

Remember I'm a noob at pc's..so more likely it will take me an hour to carry out one step lol
