Hi all,

Due to system crashed, I force to done a System restore on my PC, somehow my new Norton Internet Security had missing after reboot system. My Norton account provide me to download my purchased product and I had some question on below:

 

1) The Licensed Installs are 3 and currently Available Installs are 2, if I have done the download to same PC, is it the Available Installs still remain 2?

 

2) My purchased product can re-download to same PC?

 

Appreciated some one able to help.

Hi! You can reinstall again on the same hardware and activate the installation with the same key, without using up another activation. And you can download from your Norton account and use that installation file.

The internal Windows System Restore function -- not the PC's Restore to factory condition -- can mess up security applications since the System Restore changes some files but Norton does not know about this in the record it keeps.

 

You can avoid this, once you know about the problem which is not just with Norton, by disabling the protection during the restore (Disable Autoprotect in Norton Real TIme Settings) until after the System Restore is completed but remember to enable it again.

 

As suggested run the Windows Remove Programs, reboot and then reinstall NIS.

 

If you do this from the MyNortonAccount Download button it will download and install a preactivated copy of a more uptodate version than on your disk. It should not notch up another activation but it it should there's no problem in getting it reset to the correct figure. Just let us know and we can give you a link to support to do this.

Some how my PC is failed to boot up after disable the feature...

Sometimes doing that either directly or via a Restore to factory condition is the best thing to do but you may want to hang on in case someone has a suggestion.

 

You might want to find the key you hit early in booting up that gives you a choice of booting conditions like Last good or SAFE and get back that way.

FWIW and it may not help in your situaton soljacker,but for future reference, I was under the impression that your needed to disable Tamper Protection (not Auto-Protect) prior to running a Windows System Restore. 

 

It is found here:  Settings > General > Product Security > Turn off Tamper Protection 

 

If I am wrong - I am sure someone will correct me.
