Hello,
I have been a user of Norton products for at least 15 years. I had previously considered your software as very good, and I have suggested it to many others who have sought my opinion. However my recent experience has changed my opinion of your software, and of your company and not for the better.
I have been using Norton Internet Security 2011. As of yesterday, my subscription to virus updates expired. Although the updates I have currently are still up to date, your software has disabled itself completely, leaving my system instantly vulnerable. This is completely unacceptable.
The software I have paid for, along with any updates up until the very second my support expired should continue to remain effective until such time as I either uninstall the software, or purchase a newer copy. I find it outrageous that you would even consider this. Leaving my computer unprotected, and the software disabled except for the scareware-esque reminders is a despicable tactic.
The 'subscription' period is for software updates, and virus definitions. This is how it has always been, and how it should continue to be. If I decline to purchase further updates that is my prerogative.
Think of how ridiculous it would be if I loaded Windows 2000 on a system only to have Microsoft disable it because it is no longer supported. This is what I feel you are doing.
Even though I already have a newer copy, I will return it to the store for a refund. I can no longer support a draconian policy such as this.
