For some reason it won't do any kind of scans. a little bit ago it use to but now it won't. Is it because I'm still on the trial or what? And I'm not sure what kind it is but the verison is 20.3.1.22

So far as I know there's no trial period once you have activated your copy of the program.
Is this a new install? Did you have another security product installed before your Norton installation? What was the product and how did you uninstall it?

I had the trail version of Internet Security for a little bit now, I did an update for it and got up to that version so that might be why. And no, this is my first norton product.

If your trial has expired NIS will stop working all together. You will either have to purchase a copy and enter the key to activate or find an alternative.
