hi, I purchased the norton internet security back in Nov. Last week I was stupid and clicked on an email supposedly from the postal service only to find it was a trojan virus. Since last Thurs my computer has this virus. My son has run norton for me several times and I keep having issues. It does not remove the entire virus. I thought I paid for something to protect me from viruses, but this is not helping. I do not think I should have to pay more money to symantec for a virus that should not have infected my computer in the first place. Any one have any suggestions? My son has run my computer in safe mode and it appears the virus is gone, but as soon as he reconnects me to the internet we get the pop up message that the downloader is still on my computer. My son says I have to reinstall my entire system to clear the virus from my computer. This is exactly what i was hoping to avoid by purchasing norton. If anyone has suggestions on what else we can do I would appreciate it. I am using a laptop. I realize i was the stupid person to open an email - my first time ever doing that and my last....still, norton was supposed to be protecting me. That is what I paid for, but I did not get protection. Any suggestions are appreciated as I do not want to start my system from scratch. I am very upset. I was told by my son this is a known virus that somehow attaches to antivirus protection. why did the norton internet security not stop it? Thanks.
