Norton is not removing Ad ware please help!

I have this adware problem when every other link or r website i go to a pop up appears or a new tab opens up with and ad. The ads are usually in the same subject as the site im exploring i.e sports site a sports ad or a random tab with a third party search engine that searches random sports. I also have this problem when if I leave my Cpu in the desktop sometimes the pop up usually a video from CBS.

I have been running a full system scan but all it finds is a few traking cookies an these Ad wares still come up.

" random tab with a third party search engine"

What is the search engine called??

It's funny because this one pop up as a click this.

ANY other user other than the thread starter is not to use any instructions, scripts or proceedures,  The work though in cleaning a system is individual and only for that system due to a number of factors.

Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.

  • We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Do as the instructions ask nothing extra or run things twice
  • If I ask a Question just answer it, don't run anything unless it states.
  • Major steps used:

1. Find

2. Break

3. Destroy

4. Cleanup  (including system as a whole)

Please read every post completely before doing anything.

  • Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process.

  • Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forum, (sometimes :smileylol:)

  • Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.

Download OTL http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/otl/   On to the Desktop

Disable Norton / Symantec for say 30mins

Start OTL,  (Right click and from the menu choose "Rin as Administrator")

Click the Scan All Users checkbox.

Change file age to 90 days

Press the

An OTL.txt  and extras.txt will be created. To attach back in a post

Do not waste your time.  If do not follow QUAD's instructions to the letter, he will leave and he said so, "I am now finished with this removal,  The user did not follow instructions in at least 3 settings or location."

Sorry!

OK here it is but this time only one note came up

oh i didnt read the preavious message....

So because I made a mistake, I cant get help on this issue anymore?

For users reading,

EVEN with a 2nd run being done, the user still DID NOT follow instructions, little wonder I don't touch these systems.

Good Luck on youe removal when not following instructions.

What?! I followed Excatcly this time. The first time I forgot to check the all users box and change the file to 90 days.

I checked those and waited even longer than 30 mins the second time!

Sorry man!  I think dickevans has some forums you could try!  I think bleepingcomputer.com was one of them.  If you search his old posts you can find them!

Here is a link to a post by Dickevans with links to malware removal sites.

You are right I didnt know It was a big difference. Obviously im not tech savy or I wouldn't be asking for help here. I came here to find a solution to an issue but I succeeded in making a fool of myself. Quads not sure if you still want to help or not otherwise I will look somewhere else

RC-90112Apple, peterweb thanks for your help too.

No you did not follow instructions

"You are right I didnt know It was a big difference"     It is not up to a user to think what would make a difference or not, so do their own instructions.

Not following instructions makes a difference to for tools to a point the likes of a BSOD and windows rebooting can have a problem or tools try and delete themselves during the process.

I already accepted responsibility for my mistake you didnt have to quote me on that. I know what i said. I didnt come here to argue.
