Hello, Let me begin by saying I am running Windows 10 on 8GB of ram, and have no other applications actively running that I have launched when I encounter the problem and have stopped all unnecessary start-up processes.
Note: I will use past tense in this post because I temporarily solve the problem by disabling the Norton service with the administrative tools.
To the problem now:
Whenever I start my PC it was extremely slow to log into my user, slow to the point where just right-clicking on the taskbar in order to open up the menu to open task manager took 30 seconds, but once task manager was open I checked the memory, and saw that 98% or it was being used up. When I checked what was causing this inordinate amount of memory use Desktop Window Manager was at the top of the list with less than 100MB of memory being used. I made sure that all unnecessary programs were unchecked from startup and rebooted the system. When I was finally able to get back into my account the system was still being slow, and I knew that before installing Norton I was not having this issue, so seeing as there was no startup option I went into the administrative tools and disabled the Norton service, and after rebooting once more, and logging back into my account, I found that the PC was running like butter, I checked task manager and memory usage was down to 20%!
My question is, will I have to keep it like this, because not having an antivirus is no bueno, but I can't even use my computer while norton is a startup process. Do you have any suggestions to try? Have you experienced anything like this?
Thanks.
