Norton keeps giving me false alarm

Guys this has bcome too annoying. my NIS 2010 keeps giving me a false alarm about a trojan.gen (which is actually a file under my sony maintainance folder and not a trojan). it pops up every time I boot and at other times too. how to stop this thing to not to come or to tell NIS to ignore that file. please help.

the message i get is like: the trojan couldnt be removed, so asks me to remove manually or something like that.

stupid NIS !

Please provide information on your Operating System and the name of file which Norton deletes/detects as virus. I would suggest you to try adding the file from the Sony Maintainance folder to the File Exclusion of AutoProtect/Scan for time being, and then check whether the Norton still creates a problem when you restart the computer. Refer to the following instructions to add a file to the exclusion list:

1. Start your Norton 2010 product.
2. In the Computer pane, click Settings.
3. Under Exclusions, next to Scan Exclusions, click Configure.
4. Under Scan Exclusions, click Add.
5. Browse and select the file you would like to exclude and click OK.
6. Under Auto-Protect Exclusions, click Add.
7. Browse and select the file you would like to exclude and click OK.
8. Click Apply > OK.

If you are sure about the authenticity of the file, and confident that it is a false positive, then submit that file) to Symantec:

https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive/index.html

Let us know how it goes.

thanks for the reply. some things in NIS are so poorly designed. when i try to see the file by clicking "risk details" then "details"  i get it, but that thing cannt be copy-pasted. how dumb it is ! why cant Norton put the file location info in a format that can i copied by a click..?

actually under history norton records it as removed, but still NIS keeps asking me to remove it..!

if it has really removed the file, dont know what prob that may cause lateron , bcoz as i mentioned earlier its a Sony file..

why did I move to Norton, My Lord !

Mine is a Sony Vaio latop, with Windows 7 home premium.
