@John_Purretta Are you saying that Norton is changing your defaulted browser within Windows settings? What is it changing TO? Thanks in advance. Here is a bit of information that may be useful.

AI Overview

Norton changes Firefox settings like adding extensions, setting homepages, or displaying “managed by your organization” because security features like Norton Safe Web install self-signed certificates and policies to monitor traffic. [1]

Manage Norton Safe Web Extension

  • Open Mozilla Firefox.

  • Click the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner and select Add-ons and themes.

  • Click Extensions on the left menu.

  • Find Norton Safe Web and toggle the switch to Disable or Remove it if you do not want it active. [1]

Fix “Managed by Your Organization” Message

  • Norton installs browser policies to scan HTTPS traffic, which triggers this notice.

  • Open Norton 360 settings, navigate to web protection or browser settings, and adjust features like Safe Web or HTTPS scanning if you wish to stop Norton from overriding browser controls

Yes, I set the default in windows settings to firefox for all types of HTTP, but something triggers it to launch Norton, and when I go look again, the default has been changed. I’ll try to remember next time what triggered it. I think it’s when a web site gets launched from email but I can’t get it to do it right now.

Ok, I disabled Norton Safe Web. I hope that fixes it.

I neglected to ask what Norton products do you have installed? What addon features are you running? IE: Norton Secure Browser as an example.

Hi, I have Norton 360, Norton Utilities, Norton Password Manager, and Norton AntiTrack. I also have HTTPS Everywhere, Facebook Container, and Logitech SetPoint.

I have disabled Norton Safe Search, Norton Safe Web and Privacy Badger.

oh, I also have DuckDuckGo Search & Tracker Protection.

Wouldn’t you know it, but I haven’t seen Norton take over my browser settings since disabling Norton Safe Web.

Thank you. That must have been the problem.
