Norton Live Update

Hi hurlburtfld,

Before doing anything more - have you tried these instructions?

Let us know if youhave done this already or if it helps abnd we'll go from there.

Hello Yank,

I followed the instructions posted using -019-v5i64 and all indications are that it fixed the problem.  The Norton Performance Task now show the LiveUpdate and Pulse Updates are completed.  Manual and Automatic LiveUpdate appears to be running as they should.  Thanks to all who worked on this fix.

I have been having this same problem for last several days.  LiveUpdate last updated 6 days ago (2/23/13).  Running LiveUpdate, am stuck at Check for Updates - says Pending and going nowhere.

I am on WIndows 8, 64-bit, machine went into service about 4 weeks ago.  I  have also posted on another thread re: Windows messages that Norton is not running.

Thanks for your help!

Not in my book.  I have repeated problems with this.  As of this morning, I was still unable to do an update and am waiting (forever) for a tech support person to talk to.  This same problem happened twice last week, the first seemed to impact my Adobe Acrobat mid-week. Complete unload and reload. The next was Saturday morning; same routine.  In addtion, with each evert, I was able to run a scane but nothing was shown as scanned.

Also, cannot download the Intelligent Updater file - may have to qualify that by saying I can't download that file in a reasonable amount of time.

I am having the same problems. Everytime it sends me an update they never work. I have to reinstall the app!!

Thanks for letting us know.

Finally, having spent 90 minutes online to Norton I have taken your advice and used remove and reinstall. That has worked perfectly. Thank you for your advice I should have taken it in the first instance. So much for Norton Live Chat.
Once again thank you.

My previous post should have read Norton Live Update and NOT Windows Live Update

The Remove and Reinstall Tool does all the hard work for you.

... but if you feel Support can do that better then best of luck.

Did you even check my link?

It might be easy for you to say remove and reinstall but I am not that computer savvy. I thought Live Update was supposed to be automatic?? But thanks for your help and advice. I will get in touch with Norton Webchat again.

It is pointless having two threads about the same problem.

I have given you advice.  I can't offer any more suggestions if you choose not to follow that advice.

Good luck!

I got my Norton from Norton. Have run Live Update again this morning. 4 updates. Still message about a patch. When is this going to go. This is only happening on Windows 7 laptop. The Norton on Windows 10 laptop is fine. Although history states Live Update is complete.

The Norton icon is back. Have run Live Update again this morning. 4 updates and still I get the message about a patch available. When is this going to go?

Have you restarted your computer since installing the update? Not Shutdown and start up again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.

Where you you get your copy of Norton?

At this point I would suggest you download and run the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool.  This will download a fresh new copy of your Norton product, uninstall your current copy and after a system restart will install the new copy.  Please read the "Before you begin" section at the top of that page.

When you have your new copy installed please remember to run Live Update, restarting instead of clicking Apply Now.  Continue running Live Update, restarting where required until no more updates are available.

Please let us know how you get on.

I have now lost my Norton icon altogether. This is unacceptable.

Thank you for your reply. I have done what you stated several times and I still get a message about a patch when I run Live Update. This situation is really unacceptable. Perhaps someone from Norton will read this and put things right!!!
