Norton LiveUpdate/Authentication Fails

I'm using Norton Security Suite through Comcast.  Norton could no longer update, and so I reinstalled Norton as recommended by the website.  Unfortunately, now my new version can't authenticate or connect to the LiveUpdate server.  I can ping liveupdate.norton.com successfully.  When I run Norton Autofix, it tells me that the error was 8921, 229.  Internet Connectivity Repair fails, and then when it gives the final page stating that the error code is still the same.  I manually updated the Norton definitions, ran a full system scan. I installed Malwarebytes and ran a full scan.  I've followed all instructions on Norton's (outdated) help page for this error.  The problem still persists.  Any suggestions?

Sidenote: Chrome can't update either, returning Error 7 (update server not available).  I assume this is related, but I can't be sure.

Someone...please...

Hi CoffeeFlux,

Have you verified your system timeand date are correct?

Yes, they're fine.

Here is the most recent Knowledge Based Articlae - but I believe it contains the same info you already tried:

https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v64447006_EndUserProfile_en_us

Please be sure to  check out the "What if this didn't work?" at the bottom of the above lnk.

Did everything except changing the proxy  settings.  I don't have one enabled, and I can't change the setting because Norton has locked down because I haven't activated.

I still need help!

Hi CoffeeFlux,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Please try the instructions in this link.

Am I correct in understanding that your past installation attempts have worked up to the point of activating your Norton Security Suite?  If this is the case, please insure you are logged into your Comcast Primary Account, and you are trying to install from your home modem.

I have already tried reinstalling using Norton's tools, and the problem isn't that it's not accepting my credentials.  It's not capable of communicating with the sever. I've tried with the firewall disabled, no difference.

Please tell us the exact name of the "Norton Tools" you used for reinstalling - for example Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool or Norton Removal Tool - as they are 2 different tools with different functions.

Have you tried in any other browser - so as to eliminate Chrome being the cause?
