Norton locked

I took the SIM card out to put into another phone forgetting about the nms and now the phone is locked even after I put the card back in. I did get my buddy to send the text message with the work unlock in it and my phone received it but nothing happened. I don't remember which version it is but i only downloaded it about 4months ago. This is driving me mad as my phone is useless atm. Btw I can't remember the password either, is there a required amount of letters or numbers I would have had to use.

Ok I tried to have the text sent with the phone number also (the help message says just to send "unlock")but now it won't even receive the text message and it is also saying that the nms has expired. Is the no way of having the password emailed to me.

Is norton mobile security the Same thing as norton anti theft? As it seems I had a trial for that expire when I log onto the site its saying its expired.

As for having the password emailed to you.  Well you were probably the only one with the password.  If people thought that Norton had copies of their passwords or that there were a master password I don't think many people would want the product.

 

You mention Norton Anti-Theft.  This is not the same as Norton Mobile Security but there is a free plugin Norton Anti-Theft app for users of the paid Norton Mobile Security app.  If you have this loaded and can log into it via the web then you can unlock your phone by going to the Anti-Theft site and telling it to lock your phone.   This will require the creation of a new passcode - which can then be used to unlock your phone.  Might sound a bit odd but it does work.

 

However I note that the systems seem to think that your license has expired.  Do you think this is actually the end of your license period or a fault?

 

Even if it is the end of your license period and this is all that is preventing you accessing Norton Anti-Theft and thus unlocking your phone you might like to try contacting the Norton Chat helpline through this link.  If you explain the position and can suitably identify yourself to them then they may be prepared to put a few days on the license to help you unravel the situation.

in my norton account it is saying that I have used norton anti threft and that it has now expired. Is there a way through my norton account to get the password? i wish i had never installed this on my now useless phone. 

It was a trail version of anti theft.

I am still puzzled about exactly what software you have and whether you should still have a valid licence for NMS.  As far as I am aware there is no trial version of Anti-Theft.  There is however a free plugin if you have a valid licence for the full version of NMS.  If you have a full licence for NMS then the Anti-Theft plugin should still work and this can unlock your phone in the way I described earlier.

 

So if you believe that you should still have a valid licence for NMS then I would advise you to contact Norton via their Chat link which you can reach here.  Tell the person you contact what the problem is and why you think you should still have a valid licence.  Even if the licence has just run out, but you can persuade them to give you one or two free days that is all you should need to get the Anti-Theft plugin to unlock the phone.

 

In all of this I am assuming that you have not upgraded to NMS 3.0 which came out less than a month ago.  If you think that you have upgraded to NMS 3.0 the issues may be somewhat different (e.g. the Anti-Theft plugin does not work with it) but hopefully the Chat line should still be able to help.
