While I wouldn’t consider you a simpleton, I will say that the logs would serve more to confuse beginning computer users than it would to help them maintain their security. Beginning users are less likely to engage in security-unfriendly behavior, while a more advanced user would know the risks and the places to identify those risks. For this reason, it would most likely not be very important or necessary for beginning computer users to check their logs. However, I welcome other opinions on the subject. Thanks!

Thanks Tony. maybe I should rephrase that-

Should paranoid people without computer knowledge and who get easily concerned check their logs??

:)

Thanks Tony. I have to say you all have eased my mind and make me realize that I get too worried

Norton will protect you with Updates through LiveUpdate to address issues.

However, it may be good to check your Logs every bi-weekly to make sure everything is running as it should be and, if you see something that should not be happening, or you see something which concerns you, then you can come here and ask about it, rather than it remianing un-known to you if you did not check your Logs, because, that is what this Forum is all about.
