Also I would point out that you say you used numerous products that also failed to detect this. It seems Norton is not alone this time.
In my search, I could not find anything on this infection. Is it a new infection? With tens of thousands of new malware and variants released every day, there is always a time frame that there is no protection intil the malware is identified and then a fix released.
conduit is not malware but a PUP
Quads
. PUPs include spyware, adware, and dialers, and are often downloaded in conjunction with a program that the user wants.
The term was created by McAfee, the Internet Security company, because marketing firms objected to having their products called "spyware": in the view of such firms, all the information necessary for informed consent is included in the download agreement. It is widely recognized, however, that many if not most users fail to read a download agreement in sufficient detail to understand exactly what they are downloading.
McAfee differentiates PUPs from other types of malware, such as viruses, Trojans, and worms, which can be safely assumed to be unwanted by the user.
The Conduit virus, also referred to as the Conduit search virus, Conduit engaging people virus, Conduit malware apps, or the search.conduit.com redirect virus, is a website that participates in unethical practices, and is utilized by ethical and unethical third-parties, including cyber criminals and scam artists in order to generate revenue via Conduit Products such as the Conduit Community Toolbar. Conduit is essentially documented as a browser hijacker, that installs onto a computer system and attaches to an internet browser, in order to change internet browser settings such as the home page and default search engine. This causes infected internet browsers to start up on search.conduit.com and redirect to search.conduit.com as well as other webpages on the Conduit domain name and third-party domain names and search engines.
As it has been determined this is a PUP, that would explain why Norton and some others did not detect it.
Norton concentrates on malware that can harm or damage your system. Many users here use a second on demand scanner such as Malwarebytes or SuperAntispyware to check for these 'minor' annoyances.

Conduit may not damage your system, but it sure does your browser. I once had it, it wrecked internet explorer and I couldn't search until I messed with some options. I strongly believe that Norton security products should be made capable of handling such things, even though they might seem little of a problem, because believe me, it wasn't a little problem.
I sure hope you can get this fixed,
