Hi
Just testing my Gingerbread 2.3.6 Samsung Galaxy device and I find that Norton
Mobile Security installation corrupts my Micro SD memory card. I am using a
Windows 7 PC.
Connecting device to PC by USB with data transfer mode I now get this message
every time where I never use to get it before NMS 3.0. The Windows error message
I get is below-
Removing the memory card from the device and using an adaptor to connect
the Micro SD to a PC I still get the message.
Now I have noticed I can download NMS 3.0 without activation or opening the app
and test USB transfer mode and all is fine, at this stage the only Norton file on the
Micro SD is the .symantec_persisted file.
Then if I open the NMS 3.0 app for the first time and tap agree and start the app
that is when the issue starts. I skip sign in and go straight to the Lite version.
I close NMS 3.0 and connect the device to the PC via USB and the message comes up
straight away in data transfer mode.
Now looking at the memory card with an Explorer app I see I now have 2 more
Norton files being- (symantec_update_temp) and (.norton) .
So this issue is happening without even signing into NMS 3.0.
So I uninstall NMS 3.0 and connect again to PC via USB and I still get the message.
I remove the memory card and using the adaptor connect to the PC , still getting
the message. So I deleted all Norton files from the memory card. Still the same
message comes up when re connecting the memory card. Same thing when connecting
to PC via USB.
The only way to fix the issue and stop getting the Windows error message when
connecting to the PC is to format the memory card . This is very annoying. As I now
have to format and reload a 16 GB memory card and uninstall and stop using
Norton Mobile Security 3.0. :-(
This sounds like a serious issue that the Norton Team needs to look into.
Cheers.
