Norton Mobile Security Can't Connect to Phone

When trying to "scream" and "sneak peak", I get the following messages:

"We're trying to reach your device. Once we reach it, your device will scream. If your device is offline, we'll try the command when it's back online."

"We're trying to reach your device. Once we reach it, we'll take a picture. If your device is offline, we'll try the command when it's back online."

I've rebooted the phone, and have switched back and forth from Wi-Fi to 3G. Sending a text command works (for screaming), but the web-based functions aren't working.

Hi exfileme.

Welcome to the Community.

Sorry you are having problems.

Could you provide a bit more information to make it easier for us to try and help?

I assume that you have Norton Mobile Security (NMS), or Norton Antivirus and Security as it is known on Google Play, installed on your phone.  Can you tell us what version of NMS you have installed.  You refer to sending an SMS "scream" instruction and a Web-based function.  Exactly what is the content of the SMS message you are sending?  You may replace any password/PIN with xxxx's or similar.  What website are you attempting to use for the Web-based function?

Can you also tell us the make of your phone and the version on Android that it is running.

Roughly how long did you leave your phone on Wi-Fi at any one time?  It may be that by switching back and for, the Norton Servers did not have time to lock on to it.  I assume that you checked that you had a good Wi-Fi signal, because if you did not this could definitely account for the problem as described.

I look forward to your reply with interest.

I'm also having the same issue with the Locate functionality.  There doesn't appear to be any "Cancel" button on the web site.  Instead, the message:

"We're trying to reach your device. Once we reach it, we'll update its location. If your device is offline, we'll try the command when it's back online."

stays on the screen.  Locate button is disabled. Ran liveupdate from the phone and applied all the patches.

Funny thing is.  this began yesterday afternoon from Ft. Walton Beach about 1 pm.  This morning, the message was still on the screen, but the NMS showed a new and correct position for the phone--in Louisiana.

I can use the SMS Locate feature and get the information, but that isn't as nice as having it display on the screen...

NMS Version is 3.2.0.769

Hi kd4wat.

Seems most odd but we have seen some other cases where the website appears to get confused for some reason.  You might like to try uninstalling NMS and then re-installing it.  Hopefully when you reconnect to the website everything will work correctly again.

Do let us know what you do and what happens as it may help the team to sort out the problems and also give us some guidance as to what to advise others to do.

Good luck.
